The 9th AF in the E.T.O.


IX Troop Carrier Command
The IX Troop Carrier Command, activated on October 16th, 1943.
The IX TCC consisted of three Wings with transport aircraft;
  • the 50th TCW,
  • the 52nd TCW,
  • the 53rd TCW,
The aircraft that were used, were C47 and C53 Skytrain (Dakota) aircraft.

On activation on 16-10-1943 Commander of the IX TCC was: Brig.General Benjamin F. Giles.
On 26-8-1944 the IX TCC was assigned to the First Allied Airborne Army.
