IX Bomber Command
The IX Bomber Command, activated on October 16th, 1943.
Commander Brig. General Samuel E. Anderson took over the 3rd Bombardment Wing of the VIII Air Support Command.
The IX BC consisted of three Wings with medium bombers, the 97th BW, 98th BW and 99th BW.
The aircraft that were used, were B26 Marauder medium bombers. Also some A20 and A26 were used by the squadrons.

August 1944 the IX Bomber Command became the 9th Bombardement Division.
Last mission was flown on 3 May 1945 with 386th, 391st, 409th & 410th BG and 1st PFS.
