US Army (SPOBS), writes to the Adjutant General, US Army on the "Construction Program of US Forces in UK," which indicates a shortage of accommodations for proposed US forces in Scotland, N Ireland, and England.
MONDAY, 22 DECEMBER 1941
INTERNATIONAL: The Anglo-American conference (ARCADIA) opens in Washington,
DC to deal with war strategy. President Franklin D Roosevelt, Prime Minister Winston S Churchill, Harry Hopkins, Lord Beaverbrook, and American and
British Chief of Staffs participate.
SATURDAY, 31 JANUARY 1942
ZONE OF INTERIOR: Major General Ira C Eaker is designated Commanding
General, Bomber Command, US Army Forces in British Isles (USAFBI) and
ordered to proceed to the United Kingdom.
