321 Squadron active in Europe & Far East
After surrender a number of planes of the Naval Air Service escaped to France and from there to the United Kingdom. A number of pilots and engineers of the LVA escaped to the UK too. There the MLD (=Dutch Naval Air Service) restarted and two squadrons were formed: 320 and 321 under Coastal Command of the Royal Air Force. Later 321 merged with 320 and 321 was disbanded. Later on a new 321 Squadron was established in the Far East. It was based on Ceylon and flew patrol missions over the Indian Ocean. Equipment then was the PBY5 Catalina which were part of the Dutch Naval Air Service in the East Indies. Later during the war the Catalinas were replaced by B24 Liberators.
