History of 1847 Squadron in WW2

History

The history of no. 1847 Squadron is a very short one, because the squadron only existed for a few months.
The squadron officially formed at Eglington in February 1944 as a fighter squadron with 10 Hellcat Is, and with the majority of the pilots being from the Royal Netherlands Navy.
Originally planned for escort carrier duties, the squadron was absorbed into 1840 squadron and disbanded whilst still at Eglington in May 1944.
